About the owner

With Lindsay McGrail, chef & owner of Green Zebra, food has always been a love story. From her high chair, she learned her mother's easy dance of cooking.  It was at that counter spices exploded and ingredients became delicacies.  At age six she gave her first dinner party. In college, she was the “it place" for a study break. When visiting home she was always drawn back to the kitchen.

It was from this place of joy & cooking a change materialized. Lindsay enrolled at The Institute for Culinary Education in Manhattan, the epicenter of the culinary world, and its kitchens soon opened up to her.  With her culinary ambitions set in motion, the city became her oyster. Lindsay would cook for celebrities, Mayor Bloomberg, studio executives, and at elite weddings.

Returning to Rochester she continued to delight as a personal chef and wow new clients with her prowess. In late 2007 Lindsay established Green Zebra named after her favorite heirloom tomato. In Rochester cooking became a delight with local farmers and quality products readily available. Her passion for food, entertaining, and life's delights came bursting forth. At Green Zebra, it is now Lindsay performing the easy dance with a fury of spices and exceptional taste.
